A King Who Was Sanely Insane
King Lear was the greatest, or so he thought.
Unfortunately, he could never see the truth behind smiles
And instead of paradise, misery was what he bought.
Now he would pay for his foolishness with lonely miles
Walking without being able to comprehend
That his two “affectionate” daughters are solely serpents.
They robbed him of anything they could physically apprehend.
To Cordelia, he now repents.
He becomes grieved with sadness,
Seeing what his daughters really were trying to pursue.
This was the true reason for his madness,
Now realizing the truth, without needing a clue.
Poor King Lear was too obsessed with the idea of royalty,
He failed to see that what he truly desired was loyalty.
