Aphrodite: I don’t know if she’ll be up for it.

 

Medusa (agitated): Come on! My cousin has to know the future and what to do in these awful times!

 

A tired, fragile woman slowly walks into her parlor. Medusa turns to face Aphrodite.

 

Clair Voyant (weakly): Hey, there cousin. Aphrodite, how’s it been?

 

Medusa (shocked): What on earth has happened to you?!

 

Aphrodite starts to boil some water.

 

Clair Voyant (sadly): Well, to begin with, the Dodgers won the World series.

 

Medusa: I thought you were their fan?

 

Clair Voyant (clears her throat): Emphasis on the past tense, prima; plus, I foretold that they would lose, and they won, so my credibility has decreased.

 

Medusa: That’s unfair!!

 

Aphrodite pours three cups of tea and gently hands one to each of her friends.

 

Aphrodite: That is disheartening.

 

Clair Voyant shrinks even more in her seat, and Medusa’s snakes hiss angrily.

 

Medusa: Please, Aphrodite, don’t insult my cousin while she’s sad!

 

Aphrodite: I didn’t mean it in a rude way; I simply agreed that the results were disheartening, just like when Messi finally (raises her hand to do quotations) “won” finally the FIFA in 2022.

 

Clair Voyant sighs and sips her tea slowly.

 

Medusa: Wait a minute; I remember that FIFA game. Mbappé should have won, and I’m not just saying that as someone who is biased.

 

Aphrodite: Oh, because of your crush on him? But, yeah, he is the best player; that game proved how rigged FIFA is, and who’s to say that Mark Walters didn’t do the same this time?

 

Clair Voyant regaining some of her strength.

 

Clair Voyant: You think so, too?

 

Aphrodite (sighs): I mean come on; game 5 showed the truth.

 

Medusa: Yeah, especially when only Kike Hernandez scored; God knows the truth.

 

Clair Voyant: I know that you want me to try and see the future.

 

Medusa: Exactly!! Please!

 

Clair Voyant: I already prayed and asked God for some foresight.

 

Medusa: Well?!

 

Clair Voyant: Maybe I lost my opportunity.

 

Aphrodite (calmly and sipping her tea): Why don’t you walk us through the results?

 

Clair Voyant: Well, when I asked about the 2026 year overall, I mostly got that it would be positive; unions and celebrations first appeared, along with opportunities that were divinely given.

 

Medusa: That can’t be correct.

 

Aphrodite: I mean even in 2025 there were some happy moments for people on the macro- and micro- scale, like when Democrats won seats and more countries have awoken to the injustices that some groups face.

 

Medusa (sighs): I guess so.

 

Clair Voyant (pensively): But, I also saw that the devil was central in the first half of the reading.

 

Medusa: Oh, you mean Trump?

 

Aphrodite gives a disgusted look.

 

Clair Voyant: Actually, that might be true. When I asked about the future of the U.S., it ended in the devil again, especially when I asked about Trump.

 

Medusa (angrily): Oh great! Just what we needed!

 

Aphrodite (calmly): It means that good triumphs no matter how much evil appears.

 

Both cousins turn to face Aphrodite, who calmly finishes her tea and then smiles at them.

 

Aphrodite (cont’d): Trump clearly made a pact with the devil, but time’s running out for him and the corporate greed. They feel it in their expiring bones.

 

Clair Voyant (claps): I did have a dream that foretold around the same time as the Peruvian curanderos that Trump would be gravely ill, emphasis on the grave.

 

Medusa (smiles): Oh, thank God!

 

Clair Voyant (warns): However, that wasn’t the end; I also heard a bunch of fire and police sirens in the background. At first I took it as a sign of congratulations, but the voice warned that chaos would also come.

 

Medusa: Dammit! Can’t we be happy, like ever?

 

Aphrodite: Happiness will still be present and can be found in the micro-everyday moments, but it is imperative for the people to remain watchful and remember their agency.

 

Clair Voyant: Exactly; maybe that was the warning. We simply cannot go on pretending not to see the injustices, like the smart, intelligent women who have lost their jobs because of DEI,

 

Medusa: The families separated and those who died at the hands of I.C.E.,

 

Aphrodite: And the criminal acts of this administration, from all three branches of government. Change is not about going back, but facing these injustices and helping those affected.
